The tenement No 5, known as Merkerts Tenement. The building was probably erected in 15th century. It was mentioned in 1678 as a property of Wincenty Brykner. The tenement was bought in 1799 by the merchant Piotr Steiheller. Since the middle of the 19th century the building belonged to the Merkerts family.

The property was rebuilt several times in the16th century and in the 18th century. It was also renovated in 1852 and in 1923. The tenement has a classicistic facade. The ground floor is separated from the rest of the building by the attics. The attics are decorated with the symbol of Mercury.

Hotel Stary invites all of its guests to an elegant Restaurant with an exquisite Polish Cuisine. There is also an excellent coffee-shop with home-made delicacies right on the ground floor, as well as two bars, one of them a summer bar on the terrace, on the highest floor of the hotel with a magnificent view of the Main Market Square of Krakow.
